Monday montage: Urban Craft Uprising

It’s getting a bit close to order anything for Christmas, so I’m going to round up some great things I saw at the Urban Craft Uprising show in Seattle recently. I must say that the goods and makes on offer were amazing compared to craft shows I’ve been to before. Continue reading “Monday montage: Urban Craft Uprising”

Discoveries of a novice: Independent pattern companies

As a newbie in the world of sewing, I’ve been delighted to find the depth of community that exists, both relating specifically to sewing, and also in the wider crafting arena. Most importantly, it’s incredibly accessible. Continue reading “Discoveries of a novice: Independent pattern companies”

Monday morning montage – Cyber Monday!

I think it looks better with it, so I’m glad I went for it in the end (I confess I was slightly worried it would go horribly wrong and wreck the top). Continue reading “A Tale of three Akitas”

Toy soldier dungarees

Well! This was a project and a half! I can’t tell you how many mistakes I made on this set of dungarees, nor how long it took me to work some things out, but I learnt an incredible amount and I really enjoyed it. Even the buttons. I’ve already figured out my current most hated task is sewing on buttons. Urgh. Need to sort out how to use that button-sewing foot on the sewing machine pronto… Continue reading “Toy soldier dungarees”

Birdy footstool!

So – I am sewing in the background and nearly finished the first piece, which was a joint experiment with my Mum and sister. In the meantime though, I attended a short morning class to make a footstool at the North Seattle College and this was the result!
