Another wet n windy Monday – and another collection of things I’ve found! It occurred to me this is a foolproof way to get a stylish Christmas present, haha! I’m probably the last female on the planet to have thought of this ploy, but better late than never! Actually my other half has really good taste, but everyone needs a hand sometimes, am I right? Party Zebra Tote Bag
I finished this bag off a few days ago and, on the whole, I’m fairly pleased with it. It’s nice and sturdy, I actually like the way it looks, and I’ll definitely use it. I learnt how to work with slightly thicker fabrics, improved my topstitching a little, learnt how to make straps, and a few other bag basics.

It’s a party zebra! Right?!
Monday montage – my favourite finds!
Yuck – Mondays. Whether you’re working or at home, Mondays are a dismal start to the week. To cheer myself up I do a little browsing on a Monday morning and make a little montage of stuff I like to dribble over. This week I took a look at Etsy and here are some of the lovely things I found!

Sweet videogame bag ready for action!
Behold my new videogame bag. I thought I’d whip up something quick for another chance to straighten out my basic sewing skills, and this little bag was the perfect contender. Continue reading “Sweet videogame bag ready for action!”
A Tale of three Akitas
This Akita top is actually the first item I finished sewing, but I wanted to add a fabric paint motif, which took me a little longer to get sorted. I think it looks better with it, so I’m glad I went for it in the end (I confess I was slightly worried it would go horribly wrong and wreck the top). Continue reading “A Tale of three Akitas”
Toy soldier dungarees
Well! This was a project and a half! I can’t tell you how many mistakes I made on this set of dungarees, nor how long it took me to work some things out, but I learnt an incredible amount and I really enjoyed it. Even the buttons. I’ve already figured out my current most hated task is sewing on buttons. Urgh. Need to sort out how to use that button-sewing foot on the sewing machine pronto… Continue reading “Toy soldier dungarees”
Falling for Filkauf
I haven’t spent an autumn here in the States before and I’m amazed by the colours of the leaves. I knew it was supposed to be quite something on the east coast (we foreigners always hear about the Boston area) but I didn’t know it would be so vibrant here on the west coast too. I’m from Scotland and I always thought our autumns were fairly colourful, but they’re nothing compared to what is in my garden. Yep, my garden! Wow! Continue reading “Falling for Filkauf”
Birdy footstool!
So – I am sewing in the background and nearly finished the first piece, which was a joint experiment with my Mum and sister. In the meantime though, I attended a short morning class to make a footstool at the North Seattle College and this was the result!
